Adventures in Yosemite

I finally got to take Brian to Yosemite this month, so that he could see first-hand why it is a place that is very dear to my heart. I was hoping to present him with the winter wonderland that I had experienced many times in the past, but unfortunately the drought this year left the stone cliffs and valley floor with hardly any snow. On the plus side, little snow meant more hiking, so we were able to visit the Mariposa grove of Giant Sequoias and complete the Panorama Trail Loop via the winter route. We had quite an adventure on the Panorama Trail... there was a lot of ice at the higher elevations, which slowed us down and caused us to have to hike down the last 4.6 miles from Glacier Point in total darkness! Luckily I had an emergency flashlight in my pack and Apple makes the flashlight feature on the iphone. It was quite scary coming down, but the memory of watching the sunset at Glacier Point with not another soul around made it well worth it. We're both looking forward to going back soon (hopefully this summer).
